The dreams of a people of color that the Justice system would value all life equally are once again deferred. The poetic question of Langston Hughes echoes from Ferguson across the nation; “What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore and then run? … Maybe it sags like a heavy load.” And then in rage explodes!
Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
When we are anxious and frustrated we can accomplish some things but when we are calm and focused we can accomplish so much more and perhaps even enjoy the journey. So take time to still yourself, breath and focus your disposition. This can make the most tedious tasks or difficult duties worthwhile.
The world says, “innocent until proven guilty.” God says, “guilty when guilty proven or not.” The world says, “do jail time to pay your debt to society.” God says, “Christ has paid it all and you are forgiven.” Now how shall you live with the gift you’ve been given?
Do the best you can knowing that you will not be perfect. Be slow to judge others, quick to listen and even quicker to forgive.
Unsolicited advice runs the risk of being harshly rejected no matter how good it is. Sometimes you have to wait until asked to help before you offer help.
Patience does not mean procrastination or laziness. Patience requires being in touch with your soul so you act with Divine wisdom as oppose to acting out of fear, anger or greed. To be patient is to be in touch with your soul strength and that’s why you don’t mind waiting when necessary.

When adversity strikes you, find out who is really in your corner. Acquaintances are fine but when the rubber meets the road friends rise up to ride with you. Not in judgement or condemnation but with understanding and a praying spirit.
